I am not, nor have I ever been a conspiracy theorist, not a “Truther”, not even a “Birther.” There was enough in his policies that, at least in my mind, disqualified Obama as legitimate without involving his place of birth.
Whenever I’d hear someone say they were convinced that the attacks that took place on that horrific day were perpetrated by our own government, my immediate response was, “to what end?” The attacks occurred, we went to war because of it, we’ve rebuilt. Nothing’s changed, case closed.
Several months ago I was at a retail establishment when I overheard someone talking about their new ID.
Since that time I’ve heard others speak of it and refer to it as a “Passport.” This made no sense. After all how could anyone confuse a Driver’s license or State ID with that?
Finally my interest was piqued enough to do some reasearch. What I discovered, shook me to my core.
While Americans were focused on 911 and it’s aftermath, there were forces at work at the highest levels of government preparing to use the chaos to their advantage.
In 2005 Rep James Sensenbrenner, Republican of Wisconsin, introduced H.R. 418 “The Real I.D. Act.” It sat in limbo until he attached it to an “Emergency” Defense appropriations bill (read that stop gap) H.R. 1268. which was passed by the House, made it’s way through the Senate and was signed into law on May 11th of that year by President George W. Bush.
Since it was slid in under the radar, much of Congress (on both sides of the aisle) had no clue what they’d done. They spent the next two years attempting to “repeal and replace” sections of the Bill in order to give States more autonomy over design and implementation but to no avail.
Eventually they were able to postpone and stagger the effective date in stages initially restricting in to goverment agencies.
For domestic travelers it began to take effect in January. A driver’s license may still be used provided you live in a State that has either implemented the law or is in the process of doing so. Should you live in a State that has yet to comply, you’ll find yourself stuck on the tarmac, ticket or no. An extension was granted requiring all Citizens to be compliant by 2020.
Below is listed the documention needed to obtain the ID and the manner in which the Government will store it.
Documentation required before issuing a license or ID cardEdit
Before a card can be issued, the applicant must provide the following documentation:
A photo ID, or a non-photo ID that includes full legal name and birthdate
Documentation of birthdate.
Documentation of legal status and Social Security number.
Documentation showing name and principal residence address.
Digital images of each document will be stored in each state DMV database.
The bottom line: As of 2020 you will no longer be able to fly domestically without a Federally accepted ID. Nor will you be able to enter a Federal building of any kind for any purpose including Court Houses without said ID.
The law will enable the Government to create a National database of everyone living in the country.
At the time the law was passed it’s stated purpose was:
“An Act to establish and rapidly implement regulations for state driver’s license and identification document security standards, to prevent terrorists from abusing the asylum laws of the United States, to unify terrorism-related grounds for inadmissibility and removal, and to ensure expeditious construction of the San Diego border fence.”
One would think the new ID would be required to prevent voter fraud as well but that is not the case. While it may be used as identification for that purpose there is no such requirement within the Real ID Act itself.
That is not to say that won’t be altered in the future because the law gives the Department of Homeland Security “Carte Blanche” to change the definition of it’s “purpose” at anytime without input from or consultation with Congress. See below.
“1. Definition of “Official Purpose”
Comment: Two States wrote that since many Federal areas require identification, all “official purposes” must be clearly stated in the rule so that States can make informed decisions on whether to be REAL ID-compliant based upon the impact on the State budget versus the negative convenience impact on its citizens.
Numerous commenters wrote that the definition of “official purpose” captures the requirements of the REAL ID Act and they are opposed to expanding the definition Commenters stated that, should DHS decide on expanding the definition of “official purpose,” it should not be done without an open comment period.
One commenter wrote that DHS has chosen to restrict the required presentment of REAL ID-compliant documents to a much smaller set of official uses than was contemplated by Congress, and this contradicts and undermines DHS’s statutory mandate to enforce Federal immigration law.
One State suggested that DHS create a list of [[Page 5288]applicable Federal facilities. One commenter voiced concern over possible expansion of the definition to include Federally licensed firearms dealers and that residents of non-compliant States could be blocked from purchasing firearms.
One commenter encouraged DHS to consider all the ways in which REAL ID could be used and not limit it to boarding of Federally-regulated commercial aircrafts, entering of Federal facilities, and nuclear power plants.
Response: DHS agrees with those commenters who noted that the proposed definition of “official purpose” is consistent with Congressional intent. DHS is neither expanding nor limiting the definition further in this rule.
DHS will continue to consider additional ways in which a REAL ID license can or should be used and will implement any changes to the definition of “official purpose” or determinations regarding additional uses for REAL ID consistent with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
DHS does not agree that it must seek the approval of Congress as a prerequisite to changing the definition in the future (except of course to remove one of the three statutorily-mandated official purposes) as Sec. 201(3) of the Act gives discretion to the Secretary of Homeland Security to determine other purposes.”
Whether through negligence or by Design, George W. Bush is complicit in laying the framework for transforming “The Land of the Free” into a modern Police state.
